May Sweeps: Final Finale
Well, time sure flies while you’re having fun, but it looks like we’ve reached the end of our May Sweeps month.
It was quite the month, wasn’t it? And a nice change of pace, too. You can expect to find all of my May Sweeps goodies tucked away as a Bin Special over at the Bargain Bin Review.
But for this final entry into the May Sweeps month, I thought it would be appropriate to do a run-down of this year’s season finales. Problem: As you now know, I don’t watch a lot of TV.
Just to prove it, here is a quick & spoiler-y rundown of the season finales I saw, along with my thoughts. Stick with me — this won’t take long.
CHUCK
What Happened:Chuck loses the Intersect (again) but still manages to save Sarah from Certain Death in a nick of time. They get married. Team Bartowski quits the CIA and is gifted Volkov Industries, so they’re going freelance. In the final moments, Morgan accidentally gets Intersectized.
What I Thought: Would’ve been a great series finale, but the show becomes inherently less appealing as Chuck becomes more and more competent as a spy in his own right.
COMMUNITY
What Happened:A two-part paintball battle royale, with the first part sending up spaghetti westerns and the second part giving a nod towards Star Wars. Pierce wins big for Greenville, and turns down the invite to stay in the study group.
What I Thought: Brilliant! Why aren’t you watching this show?
THE OFFICE
What Happened: A search committee interviews lots of guest stars to fill Michael Scott’s shoes. At the end of the hour, no decision has been made.
What I Thought: Eh. Funny at times, but horribly predictable. Hard to see where the show is going from here.
PARKS AND RECREATION
What Happened: The town rallies to put together a tribute for Lil’ Sebastian, a miniature horse that just passed away. During the tribute, Ron gets his eyebrows and moustache burned off and Chris performs a song called “5000 Candles In The Wind.” Leslie is offered the chance to run for higher office. She takes it, knowing full-well that her new relationship with Ben could torpedo things quickly.
What I Thought:For a series that’s been seriously hitting its stride for over a season, this might’ve been its best episode yet.
Yep, that covers it.
Fortunately, there are a whole bunch of people out there that watch more TV than I do. So if you’re looking for a more complete run-down of the best and worst season finales, may I suggest Television Without Pity:
